Welcome to the Engineering Graduate Programs

SCU provides a great return on your education investment!

The New York Times reports that according to PayScale.com, Santa Clara ranks in the top 20 U.S. colleges for starting median and mid-career median salaries. PayScale has collected a "gigantic data set on the salaries of graduates from hundreds of universities and colleges..." A look at their website shows that SCU has the second highest median starting salary for private universities! In today's economy where every dollar counts, an SCU education is a great way to boost your earning potential.

Founded in 1912, the School of Engineering educates tomorrow's technical leaders in small and rigorous classes taught by expert faculty members. Our outstanding graduate programs offer master's and Ph.D. degrees, open university, and professional certificate programs.

Education Fitting Your Work Schedule and At Your Own Pace

Santa Clara University provides full-time students and busy working professionals in Silicon Valley with various education options to match their personal needs and working schedules, including:

  • Full-time and part-time degree programs
  • Full-time and part-time certificate programs
  • Open University – take only the courses you are interested in
  • One-Day Emerging Topic programs focusing on a single technology topic; attendees earn a Certificate of Attendance upon completion

To accommodate our students' busy working and internship schedules, all our graduate engineering classes are held outside of normal business hours, with early morning classes at 7:10 AM-9:00 AM, evening classes starting at 5:10 PM and 7:00 PM, as well as weekend classes. Our students can complete the program at their own pace.

Unique Program Features

Faculty from Industry. Over 50 graduate engineering faculty members work in industry and maintain strong industry connection. In addition to their business perspective, they are also instrumental in helping students link up with Silicon Valley engineering companies for internship and job opportunities.

Teaching Methodology. SCU faculty members use a wide variety of teaching methods to maximize students’ learning experience, including discussion sessions, small group coaching, problem-driven seminars, individual and “just-in-time” instruction in the form of online materials, learning guides, and short tutorials.

Project-Based Curriculum. The program features a heavy reliance on learn-by-doing projects, case analyses, and industrial practices so that course work is immediately applicable to responsibilities at work.

Team Orientation. Teamwork is fundamental to the program because all real projects are of a scope that requires teamwork, and sharing work enables students and their teams to produce more authentic work products.

Student Services for Working Professionals. SCU recognizes the pressures that part-time students experience in balancing competing demands on their time. We are dedicated to streamlining the administrative processes by providing students with the highest level of student services.
