Financial Aid Policies

New Students

Only students who have applied and been admitted to the Jesuit School are eligible for financial assistance. To be considered for aid, complete the Financial Aid Application by March 1 for the fall semester and October 1 for the spring semester. Financial aid applications are available in the Office of Admissions. You may also refer to the Office of Admissions for information regarding additional application materials for special scholarships.

Continuing Students

Current students who plan to return for the following academic year must also complete the Financial Aid Application. Refer to the Office of Admissions for Financial Aid Application forms and for information regarding additional application materials required for special scholarships.

Awarding Criteria

All students who complete the Financial Aid Application will be considered for aid. Tuition grants and special scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need and excellent academic achievement and/or academic potential. Preference is given to students enrolled in Jesuit School degree programs, particularly students enrolled in the Master of Divinity program. GTU Common M.A. and M.A.B.L. students who are affiliated with the Jesuit School, and students in certificate or sabbatical programs, are also encouraged to apply for aid.

Programs to Meet Financial Aid

The Jesuit School offers limited internal work-study positions to Jesuit School students who exhibit financial need. The Jesuit School also participates in the Federal Stafford Loan program, a program by which loans are made available to degree students who demonstrate need according to government standards and who maintain satisfactory academic progress during their program of study.

To apply for a Federal Stafford Loan, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available online at the FAFSA web site. You must also complete a supplementary GTU-JSTB Financial Aid Form, available from the GTU Financial Aid Office, 2465 Ridge Road, Berkeley, CA 84709; Phone: (510) 549-2469, Fax: (510) 649-1730, email: finaid@gtu.edu.
